Winter Season

Winter is miracle season at City Island Rowing. 

We give our athletes' growing bodies a break during Fall season,
focusing almost exclusively on technique.  

Winter is the time to get fit and ripped,
then in spring we put it all together and row really fast.

This is ESPECIALLY true if you are currently a Junior in High School.

On Thursdays our city-based athletes may participate in a GROUP workout.

ERGATHON FUNDRAISER 3/5

Indoor Rowing Tanks
A key feature of our Winter Training is the use of indoor rowing tanks.
This is a tremendous opportunity to keep honing our blade work and general rowing skill sets.
In fact, working on technique in tanks is potentially even more effective than on the water as athletes have mirrors to watch themselves as they row. 
We can stop, pause and adjust athletes' posture, grip, positioning, etc.

We will be at the Tanks 5 Days this season:

Varsity  4:00 - 5:30 pm, and JV/Novice 5:30 - 7:00 pm
Dec 4 and 18, Jan 8 and 22, Feb 5th

ORLANDO WINTER TRAINING TRIP 2/13 - 2/19

A highlight of our Winter training is our our  Winter Training Trip - one of the most anticipated events of the entire year. 
The trip is for our Varsity athletes and everyone is expected to attend.

 

We may be going to Disney, but a Winter Training Trip is not for a Princess!

This is a high intensity, high volume, on water training trip that runs Thursday 2/13 through Wednesday 2/19 that will give us a big head start to our Spring Championship Season.
